MCT AUDITIONS!
Our team is very excited to bring this jazzy dazzling satire of crime, fame, and justice to Maricopa. Auditions and Rehearsals will be held at Heritage Academy Maricopa, 41000 W Heroes Way, Maricopa, AZ 85138. Performances will be at Leading Edge Academy Maricopa, 18700 N Porter Rd, Maricopa, AZ 85138. Performances will be October 2-4 at 7 pm, and October 5 at 2 pm and 7 pm.
FOR AUDITIONS: Please submit an audition form here. Attendance will be expected at Dance Auditions if you are interested in a lead/supporting role. For vocal auditions, please prepare 32 measures (approx. 1 min 30 secs). from a Classical Style Musical from the 1960’s or earlier and be prepared to cold read from the script. You may be called back for specific characters at the Director’s discretion.
“Chicago” is a musical set in the roaring twenties, centered around two rival vaudevillian murderesses, Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart, who are both locked up in the Cook County Jail awaiting trial. The story explores their manipulation of the media and justice system to gain fame and escape punishment, all while showcasing the corruption and sensationalism of the criminal justice system and celebrity culture. With catchy songs and dazzling choreography, “Chicago” satirically examines themes of fame, greed, and the blurred lines between innocence and guilt.
