The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Performances: May 27 – 29 at 7 pm, May 30 at 2 pm & 7 pm

Based on the novel by Victor Hugo and songs from the Disney film by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a powerful musical set in the shadow of the great cathedral. Through soaring choral music and deeply human storytelling, the show explores themes of justice, compassion, obsession, and belonging. As faith, fear, and love collide, individuals must confront the reflections of their own hearts, and discover how courage, empathy, and conviction can ignite change within themselves and the world around them.

About the Show

Set against the backdrop of 15th-century Paris, The Hunchback of Notre Dame follows Quasimodo, the gentle bell-ringer of Notre Dame, as he navigates a world that fears him. When he meets the kind and free-spirited Esmeralda, he discovers courage, friendship, and the strength to step beyond the walls that have defined his life.

With a sweeping score by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, this musical blends beauty and darkness in a story that remains as relevant today as ever.

Content & Production Note

The Hunchback of Notre Dame explores themes of prejudice, power, social injustice, and the treatment of those who are often pushed to the margins. While the story contains emotionally intense moments, it is ultimately grounded in compassion, humanity, and the courage to create change.

In bringing this production to life, our goal is to honor both the heart of the story and the people it represents. The characters connected to the Romani (Roma) community reflect a diverse, transnational culture with no single defining identity. We have approached this work with care, focusing on storytelling, authenticity, and respect.

Language and perspectives within the piece reflect the historical setting of the story and will be handled thoughtfully within our production.
