Summer Camp
Maricopa Community Youth Theatre presents
Disney's Frozen Jr.
A place to grow, create, and find your voice.
Our Frozen Jr. summer camp gives young performers the chance to step into the world of theatre while building skills that go far beyond the stage. Throughout the camp, students will learn the fundamentals of acting, singing, and movement while working together to bring a full production to life.
Along the way, they’ll build confidence, collaborate as a team, and discover what makes them shine (on stage and off).
Open to ages 8 – 19, this experience culminates in multiple live performances, where students get to share everything they’ve created with family, friends, and the community.
Because every performer deserves a place to belong.

What Campers Do
Our camps are designed to be structured, supportive, and a whole lot of fun, so every camper can grow, learn, and feel confident on stage.
Here’s what the experience looks like:
🎶 Week 1: Getting Started
The first week is all about getting to know the show and each other.
- Campers will sing a song from the show and share what roles they’re interested in
- Every camper is cast, so we begin working on ensemble numbers right away
- Campers will receive an information packet on the first day with everything families need to know
We’ll also host a parent meeting during the first week to walk through expectations, answer questions, and share ways to get involved.
💃 Rehearsals & Camp Days
Each day builds on the last, helping campers grow more confident as they go.
- Every rehearsal begins with a dance review and warm-up
- Campers will gradually learn music, choreography, and blocking
- Rehearsals are active, collaborative, and designed for all experience levels
🎒 What to Bring
To set everyone up for success, campers should bring:
- Their script
- A pencil
- A water bottle
Since camp takes place in the evening, campers should eat dinner before arriving, as there are no formal meal breaks.
👨👩👧 Parent Involvement
We love when families are part of the process!
During the first week, families will have the opportunity to:
- Ask questions
- Learn more about the rehearsal process
- Volunteer to help with things like props, costumes, or set pieces (as needed)
🎭 Performance Week
Performance week is when everything comes together!
- Campers should arrive promptly at 5:00 PM
- This time is used to:
- Get familiar with the space
- Review staging and blocking
- Test microphones
- Get into hair, makeup, and costumes
There is typically a short window to eat during this time, and campers may bring dinner.
✅ Check-In & Safety
For all rehearsals and performances:
- Campers must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian, unless otherwise arranged with camp leaders
Whether it’s your first time on stage or your tenth, our goal is the same, to create a space where every camper feels supported, challenged, and excited to perform!

Play Together: Character Intensive
A deeper dive into the characters that bring stories to life.
Play Together is a three-week character intensive designed for young performers ready to grow their craft in a more focused way. Through musical theatre, students will explore what drives a character; learning how motivation, choices, and relationships shape a performance and bring a story to life.
This experience goes beyond the stage, with guest speakers and a deeper look at elements like costuming, lighting, and color theory, students will gain a fuller understanding of how productions come together. Select participants will also have the opportunity to apply for a Directing track, working alongside the creative team to learn the process from a new perspective. This intensive culminates in final performances that showcase the work, growth, and creativity developed throughout the process.
